Minister of Internal Trade Meets with Consumer Protection Groups

Algiers – The Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Mrs. Amal Abdelatif, held a coordination meeting on Tuesday with the heads and representatives of several consumer protection associations and organizations. The meeting took place at the ministry headquarters, according to a statement released by the ministry.

The gathering, which saw the presence of central executives from the sector, aimed to strengthen collaboration between the ministry and consumer advocacy groups. Discussions focused on enhancing consumer rights awareness, improving market surveillance, and addressing consumer complaints more effectively. The Minister emphasized the crucial role these associations play in safeguarding consumer interests and ensuring fair trade practices across the nation.

‘We value the contributions of consumer protection associations,’ Minister Abdelatif stated, ‘and we are committed to working closely with them to create a more transparent and equitable marketplace for all citizens.’

The meeting also explored strategies for combating fraud, price gouging, and the sale of substandard goods. Participants agreed on the need for increased public awareness campaigns to educate consumers about their rights and responsibilities. Furthermore, discussions touched upon the importance of streamlining complaint resolution mechanisms to provide consumers with timely and effective redress.
