Bratislava – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, held bilateral talks with Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanár, in Bratislava earlier today. The meeting took place as part of Minister Attaf’s official visit to the Slovak Republic, undertaken on behalf of the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions focused on reviewing the current state of bilateral relations between Algeria and Slovakia and exploring future prospects for cooperation in various priority sectors. These include energy, renewable energy, the pharmaceutical industry, water resources, as well as broader industrial and agricultural collaborations.
The two ministers also addressed a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest, particularly those related to developments in their respective regions.
The discussions culminated in the signing of a joint declaration by the two ministers. This declaration aims to define the priorities of bilateral cooperation and establish a joint roadmap for strengthening ties. This will be achieved through reinforcing the legal framework and completing the institutional structure of the relationship.
The joint declaration also emphasized the support of both countries for international efforts aimed at consolidating the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and establishing a Palestinian state within the framework of a two-state solution. Furthermore, the declaration reaffirmed both Algeria and Slovakia’s support for the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
