Athens – Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, was received by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday, marking a significant step in bolstering bilateral relations between Algeria and Greece. The visit served as a platform to reaffirm the commitment of both nations to strengthening their partnership.

Minister Attaf conveyed the greetings of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Prime Minister Sifi Grib to Prime Minister Mitsotakis. Discussions centered on enhancing cooperation across various sectors, with a focus on priority areas of mutual interest.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the level of coordination between the Algerian and Greek missions within the United Nations Security Council, highlighting their shared perspectives on key issues, particularly the evolving challenges in the Mediterranean region.

During the meeting, Minister Attaf stated, “I was entrusted by the President to visit Greece with the aim of revitalizing our bilateral relations and to convey three messages.” He elaborated that the first message underscored Algeria’s commitment to working with Greece to deepen their relationship and inject fresh momentum into their cooperation.

The second message, according to Minister Attaf, affirmed Algeria’s satisfaction with the quality of joint work within the United Nations framework. He noted the strong collaboration between the two foreign ministries and their respective missions in New York.

The third message focused on the Mediterranean region, historically an area of close cooperation between Algeria and Greece.
