Terrorists Arrested, Drug Smuggling Attempt Foiled at Moroccan Border

The People’s National Army (ANP) has released its weekly operational report, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, organized crime, and secure national borders against various threats. Army detachments conducted several operations across the country, resulting in the arrest of 10 individuals providing support to terrorist groups. These operations are part of a broader initiative to eradicate terrorism.

In a separate operation targeting drug trafficking, joint ANP units, in coordination with security services, apprehended 59 drug traffickers. Furthermore, authorities thwarted attempts to smuggle 2615 kilograms of processed cannabis (kif) across the border with Morocco. The operations also led to the seizure of 19 kilograms of cocaine and 455,658 psychotropic tablets.

As part of efforts to combat smuggling and other criminal activities, army units detained 276 individuals and seized 28 vehicles, 299 generators, 221 jackhammers, and 3 metal detectors. Additionally, quantities of raw gold and stone mixture, along with equipment used in illegal gold mining, were confiscated.

Authorities also arrested 15 individuals and seized one Kalashnikov assault rifle, five hunting rifles, 6,570 liters of fuel, and 7.5 tons of food intended for smuggling and speculation.

Meanwhile, coast guard units successfully foiled several attempts at illegal migration across the national coastline, rescuing 392 individuals aboard makeshift boats. Furthermore, 351 illegal immigrants of various nationalities were apprehended across the country.
