Tunis, December 11, 2025 – The Algerian-Tunisian Follow-up Committee commenced its meeting today in Tunis, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations. The meeting was jointly presided over by Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, and his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti.
This session of the Follow-up Committee serves as preparation for the 23rd session of the Algerian-Tunisian Joint High Commission for Bilateral Cooperation. This upcoming high-level meeting will be co-chaired by the Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Ghaieb, and the Tunisian Head of Government, Sarah Zafrani.
Minister Attaf emphasized that the Follow-up Committee is a “crucial stage in preparing for the 23rd session of the Joint High Commission. It provides a mechanism to evaluate progress made in recent months and to anticipate future steps aimed at elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership, as envisioned by the leaders of both nations, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Kais Saied.”
Attaf further stated that the dynamic relationship between Algeria and Tunisia is built upon three fundamental pillars: “the political and security dimension, the economic dimension, and the human dimension.”
Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, affirmed the commitment of both countries’ leadership to enhancing bilateral cooperation to more effective levels. This is aimed at aligning with regional and international developments through a shared vision, coordinated approaches, and new initiatives across various sectors.
Nafti also underscored the fraternal and historical bonds that unite Algeria and Tunisia, highlighting the mutual trust that has characterized relations between the two nations at every stage. This meeting signals a continued commitment to deepening cooperation and fostering a strong partnership between Algeria and Tunisia.
