EL OUED, ALGERIA – Law enforcement officials in El Oued have successfully dismantled a criminal network involved in vehicle theft and drug trafficking, resulting in the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of multiple individuals.
According to a statement released by the regional Gendarmerie Nationale, the operation was launched following a complaint filed by a local resident in El Bayaada regarding the theft of his Kia Seltos. Acting swiftly on the information, authorities located the vehicle and apprehended the suspected perpetrators within a short timeframe. The stolen Kia Seltos was subsequently recovered and returned to its rightful owner.
During the initial investigation, officers also seized a separate vehicle believed to have been used in the commission of the theft. The suspects were taken into custody for further questioning at the Gendarmerie headquarters.
Further investigation led to the uncovering of a second criminal network engaged in the illegal trade of psychotropic drugs. A subsequent raid resulted in the arrest of three individuals allegedly involved in the drug trafficking operation. Authorities seized 360 pregabalin capsules (300mg) during the operation.
A legal case has been prepared for both incidents, and the arrested individuals will be presented before the relevant judicial authorities upon completion of the investigation. The recovered vehicle has been returned to its owner. The Gendarmerie Nationale continues its efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety and security of citizens in the El Oued region.
