Algiers – Algeria is bracing for a significant weather disturbance expected to impact several provinces starting this Sunday. Digital weather models predict a notable shift in weather patterns, with the effects anticipated to last through Tuesday.
Initial forecast maps indicate the incoming system will bring heavy thundershowers to a wide range of areas, including the high plateaus of the central and eastern regions. Snowfall is also expected across higher elevations, specifically those exceeding 1000 to 1200 meters.
The provinces likely to be affected by the rainfall include: Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, El Mechria, Naama, El Bayadh, Mascara, Tlemcen, Ain Defla, Djelfa, Tiaret, Relizane, Oran, Mostaganem, Algiers, Ain Oussera, and Boussaada. Eastern provinces such as Constantine, Jijel, Bejaia, Skikda, Annaba, Tebessa, Khenchela, and Batna are also expected to experience significant precipitation.
The weather disturbance is predicted to gradually subside by the end of Tuesday. However, cold conditions are expected to persist in inland areas and at higher elevations due to the continuing influence of a cold air mass.
Citizens are advised to stay informed about the latest weather updates. The potential for flash flooding in certain areas and reduced visibility in mountainous regions due to snowfall warrants increased vigilance.
