In a candid acknowledgment of the changing nature of conflict, Algerian Prime Minister Ayman Ben Abdel Rahman emphasized that modern wars are waged in the media landscape. Speaking at the inauguration of the Algeria International Book Fair, the Prime Minister visited the booth of the People’s National Army and underscored the urgency of preparing for such informational warfare.

“The nation is in the midst of a relentless media war. Modern conflicts have shifted to the realm of media, and it’s crucial to note that everything that comes out of Algeria is founded on the credibility of its institutions,” said Rahman.

The Prime Minister went beyond mere cautionary advice. He proposed the allocation of special issues in the Army’s magazine, focusing on national food and water security. In Rahman’s view, these areas are integral components of national security. “Such publications play a pivotal role in reinforcing national unity and enhancing the credibility of Algerian research and information,” he elaborated.

Ayman Ben Abdel Rahman also encouraged diversifying the topics covered in various editions of Army publications. He highlighted the need to showcase Algerian solidarity with other revolutions and to delve deeper into these subjects.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a time when information dissemination and credibility are becoming increasingly instrumental in shaping public opinion. Through these statements, Rahman has implicitly acknowledged the pivotal role the media plays in modern-day conflicts, all while advocating for a proactive approach to safeguard national interests.
