Louisa Hanoune: “MAK” is a Foreign Group With No Roots in Algeria

Algiers, December 13, 2025 – Louisa Hanoune, the Secretary-General of the Workers’ Party, asserted on Saturday that the so-called “MAK” is a foreign group alien to Algeria. She accused the group of selling itself to the Zionist entity and its affiliates in the UAE and Morocco, who she claims seek to sabotage Algeria and sow discord.

Speaking at the party’s national headquarters, Hanoune stated that the group’s endeavor to establish a “Kabylie state” falls within the framework of the American “Greater and New Middle East” plan, aimed at dismantling nations from Pakistan to Mauritania. She emphasized that the citizens in the Kabylie region are the least of the group’s concerns, alleging that their true objective in Algeria is to exploit the underground resources in the Great South, as well as the infrastructure, such as roads, that facilitate the transportation of these resources.

“Despite the fact that this group has no real support within Algerian society in general, and specifically in the Kabylie region,” the Secretary-General added, “we must not ignore this scheme, even if it has no legal basis. Their efforts are aimed at blackmailing the Algerian state to obtain concessions in the economic, military, and foreign policy domains.”

Hanoune’s remarks highlight the ongoing tensions surrounding the MAK movement and the accusations leveled against it by various political figures in Algeria. The Workers’ Party, known for its nationalist stance, has consistently condemned the group’s activities and warned against its alleged foreign ties. The debate surrounding the MAK and its goals remains a contentious issue within Algerian politics.
