Algiers, December 14, 2025 – Algeria’s annual inflation rate decelerated to 1.7% at the end of October 2025, according to the latest report from the National Statistics Office. This marks a slowdown compared to the 2.2% recorded in September.
The annual inflation rate for October 2025 reflects the evolution of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from November 2024 to October 2025, compared to the period from November 2023 to October 2024.
The year-on-year change in consumer prices, representing the price development in October 2025 compared to October 2024, showed a decrease of 1.2%, the report indicated.
On a monthly basis, the raw CPI for October 2025, compared to September 2025, increased by 0.8%. This follows a slight decrease of 0.1% during the same period in 2024. The National Statistics Office attributes this trend, following a 0.7% decrease in September, primarily to rising food prices, which increased by 1.6%.
The data highlights a rise in fresh agricultural product prices by 3.3% in October, compared to the previous month. Significant increases were observed in vegetables (11.4%), fish (24.2%), eggs (22.3%), and beef and offal (2.2%). Conversely, prices for certain products decreased, including chicken (-2.3%) and potatoes (-7.5%).
Prices for manufactured food products saw a slight decrease of 0.3%, mainly due to lower prices for dried vegetables (-3%). Prices for manufactured goods and services remained relatively stable, with changes of +0.11% and -0.01%, respectively.
The seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index rose by 0.3% in October 2025 compared to September 2025. These figures suggest a continued, albeit moderate, inflationary pressure within the Algerian economy.
