Search and Rescue: Youths Found Safe on Mount Babor

Setif, Algeria – Civil Protection units in Setif successfully located three young men who had become lost on Mount Babor. A search operation, initiated in the early hours of last night, concluded with the safe recovery of the individuals.

According to officials, the Civil Protection team from the Babor unit, led by its chief, participated in the search for the three youths on Mount Babor, located in the municipality and district of Babor, north of Setif. The coordinated search efforts, involving multiple participants, led to the discovery of the youths at approximately 8:30 PM in the Douar Beni Bazaz area.

Reports indicate that one of the young men sustained injuries to his leg, wrist, and head. Another was suffering from severe fatigue, while the third was unharmed. The youths are believed to be between 17 and 18 years of age.

The injured individuals received immediate first aid at the scene and were subsequently transported to the emergency department of the Babor health clinic at around 10:45 PM for further examination and treatment.

The operation was overseen by the head of the district, the president of the Municipal People’s Assembly, the commander of the military barracks in Jouada, the National Gendarmerie unit, forestry personnel, and a group of local guides.

The Civil Protection services are urging caution to those considering similar excursions, particularly individuals who are not experienced or specialized athletes. They emphasized the potential dangers involved and stressed the importance of prioritizing personal safety in such environments. They remind the public that challenging terrains can pose significant risks, and proper preparation and awareness are crucial for a safe experience.
