The Algerian Council of Ministers, presided over by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has approved the creation of two new administrative districts. This decision aims to strengthen the administrative division of the country and improve public services for citizens.
The new districts will be located in Maghnia and El Eulma. The move comes in response to urban expansion and population density in these areas. A key objective is to bring the administration closer to the people and alleviate pressure on the existing, larger provinces.
The establishment of these new administrative districts is expected to improve local governance, accelerate the pace of development, and enhance the effectiveness of administrative work at the regional level. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to decentralization and efficient public service delivery.
Analysts believe that this restructuring will lead to better resource allocation and more targeted development projects in the respective regions. The creation of the new districts signals a significant step towards optimizing administrative efficiency and responsiveness to the needs of the local populations.
The Council of Ministers also discussed other important matters, including measures to protect farmers from losses and ensure price stability, a ban on demolishing illegal housing during the winter months, and new increases in pensions and retirement benefits.
