Algiers – In a move to strengthen its African partnerships, Algeria is hosting Chad’s Minister of Petroleum, Mines, and Geology, Ndolenodji Alixe Naïmbaye, for an official visit from December 16th to 18th, 2025. The visit, at the invitation of Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, aims to enhance cooperation in the energy sector.
Minister Naïmbaye leads a high-level delegation comprising officials from key Chadian energy and mining institutions, including the Chadian Hydrocarbons Company, the Chadian Petroleum Company, the National Mining Exploitation and Marketing Company, the Petroleum Sector Regulatory Authority, and the Chadian Higher Institute of Petroleum.
The delegation was received at Houari Boumediene International Airport by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines in charge of Mines, Karima Bekir Tafer, signaling the strong bilateral relations between the two nations.
This visit underscores the mutual desire to expand Algerian-Chadian cooperation in the hydrocarbons and mining sectors, building upon the positive momentum in relations observed in recent years, particularly through high-level exchanges. It follows the visit of Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby to Algeria in September 2025, during which both leaders emphasized the importance of elevating bilateral cooperation to strategic levels, especially in economically vital sectors.
The agenda includes official meetings with Minister Arkab, working sessions with the Secretary of State in charge of Mines, and discussions with senior executives from Sonatrach and Sonarem, Algeria’s leading energy and mining companies. Site visits to energy facilities and training institutes are also planned, aimed at sharing Algerian expertise, exchanging experiences, and fostering technical and institutional cooperation between the two countries. This visit highlights Algeria’s commitment to fostering strong relationships within the African continent.
