Israeli Airstrikes and Shelling Target Gaza Areas

Gaza Strip – Early Tuesday morning, the Israeli military launched a series of airstrikes and artillery bombardments targeting various areas in the eastern Gaza Strip. These areas are reportedly within the zones under Israeli control, as stipulated by the ceasefire agreement.

DZWatch correspondents reported that Israeli occupation forces carried out airstrikes, artillery shelling, and heavy tank fire in areas where they are deployed, specifically in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City.

Reports also indicate that areas east of Rafah and Khan Yunis, along with areas east of Al-Bureij, were subjected to Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire within the Israeli military’s zone of operations. Eyewitnesses confirmed that Israeli military vehicles shelled disparate areas northeast of the Al-Bureij camp in the central Gaza Strip, and indiscriminately fired heavily towards the area.

Additionally, Israeli aircraft reportedly conducted intense airstrikes on different parts of eastern Gaza City, coinciding with artillery shelling targeting the same area.

Since the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, Israel has allegedly committed hundreds of violations, including shelling, gunfire, and demolition operations. These actions have reportedly resulted in the deaths of 391 Palestinians and injuries to 1,063 others since October 11th.

The ceasefire agreement ended a period that began on October 8, 2023, which resulted in over 70,000 fatalities and more than 171,000 injuries, alongside widespread destruction. The United Nations has estimated the cost of reconstructing the Gaza Strip at approximately $70 billion.

In related news, US President Donald Trump stated that 59 countries have expressed their willingness to participate in a stabilization force in Gaza. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump emphasized that the stabilization force is already operating in Gaza and that more countries will be added. Trump also stated that Washington would consider whether Israel’s killing of Hamas leader Raed Saad constituted a violation of the ceasefire.

“We have real peace in the Middle East, and we’ll see what happens with Hamas and Hezbollah,” Trump added, affirming that “Hamas said it would disarm, and we’ll see if that’s true or not.”
