US Military Claims Crippling Blow to ISIS in Syria

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced a significant disruption of ISIS capabilities within Syria. According to CENTCOM, ongoing operations, conducted in cooperation with Syrian partners, have significantly hampered the terrorist organization’s ability to reorganize and launch attacks.

Over the past month, US forces, working alongside elements within Damascus, reportedly destroyed approximately 130 rockets, projectiles, and other weaponry belonging to ISIS. These actions, CENTCOM claims, have directly undermined the group’s efforts to rebuild its infrastructure and operational capacity.

The announcement further detailed that military operations in the last six months have resulted in the deaths of 14 ISIS operatives and the apprehension of 119 individuals suspected of affiliation with the group. Since July, US forces and their Syrian counterparts have conducted nearly 80 operations targeting suspected terrorist elements throughout Syria.

In late November, CENTCOM announced a joint military operation with the Syrian Interior Ministry targeting over 15 ISIS weapons caches and storage facilities in southern Syria and the Damascus countryside. Between November 24th and 27th, US forces reportedly collaborated with Syrian Interior Ministry units in destroying these storage sites through a combination of airstrikes and ground-based demolition operations.

DZWatch understands that the international coalition against ISIS, which has involved numerous nations since its inception, has carried out extensive military operations against the group in both Syria and Iraq. While the Syrian government was not initially a participant in this coalition, its recent involvement marks a notable shift in the regional approach to combating the persistent threat of ISIS.
