Flooding Closes Roads in Naama and El Bayadh Provinces

DZWatch Exclusive: Severe weather conditions and heavy rainfall have led to the closure of several roads and highways in western Algeria due to significant flooding. Authorities are advising motorists to exercise extreme caution and seek alternative routes where possible.

According to the National Gendarmerie, National Route 6, connecting the municipalities of Djenniene Bourezg and Ain Sefra in the Naama province, is temporarily closed to traffic. The closure is a direct result of rapidly rising water levels that have rendered the road impassable.

Similarly, a section of National Route 47, which links the provinces of El Bayadh and Naama, has also been shut down. The affected area is located near the municipality of Chellala, where floodwaters have submerged the roadway.

DZWatch is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available. Residents in the affected areas are urged to stay informed about weather forecasts and heed the warnings issued by local authorities.

The closures are expected to cause significant delays and disruptions to transportation. Travelers are strongly encouraged to check road conditions before embarking on journeys in the affected regions. Authorities are working to assess the damage and restore access as quickly as possible, but the reopening of the roads will depend on the receding of floodwaters and the completion of necessary repairs.
