Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia Coordinate on Libya Ahead of Key Meeting

ALGIERS – Foreign ministers from Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia convened for a coordination meeting on Saturday to discuss the latest developments in Libya. The meeting, which included Algerian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, took place on the sidelines of the second African-Russian Partnership Forum at the ministerial level.

According to a statement released by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministers engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views and analyses regarding the current situation in Libya. Discussions focused on fostering greater stability and promoting a peaceful resolution to the ongoing challenges facing the country.

Central to the meeting was an agreement to strengthen consultation and coordination between the three neighboring nations. This enhanced collaboration aims to ensure a unified and effective approach to supporting Libya’s stability and its transition towards a more secure and prosperous future.

The discussions also served as preparation for the upcoming meeting of the Tripartite Mechanism for Neighboring Countries of Libya, which Tunisia is scheduled to host early next year. This future gathering will provide a further opportunity to consolidate efforts and refine strategies for promoting peace and reconciliation within Libya.

The Tripartite Mechanism, comprising Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia, plays a crucial role in regional efforts to support Libya’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity. The ongoing dialogue and cooperation between these neighboring countries underscore their shared commitment to fostering stability and security in the region.
