DZWatch Exclusive: Egyptian football analysts are closely monitoring Algerian striker Redouane Berkane, currently playing for Qatari club Al-Wakrah, as a potential breakout star in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Comparisons are being drawn to fellow Algerian international Baghdad Bounedjah, fueling excitement surrounding the young forward.
According to Egyptian sports analyst Ahmed Sameh, Berkane possesses similar qualities to Bounedjah, showcasing impressive technical skills and physical prowess that suggest a promising future. Speaking on the Egyptian program ‘El Match,’ Sameh described Berkane as a ‘mini-Bounedjah,’ highlighting his clinical finishing, intelligent movement in the penalty area, and strength under pressure.
“Berkane, along with his compatriot Adel Boulbina, represents the future of African football,” Sameh stated. “Their talent is undeniable, and I believe they both have the potential to succeed in European leagues. The Africa Cup of Nations will be a crucial platform for them to showcase their abilities to scouts from major clubs.”
Sameh further revealed that the 22-year-old Berkane is currently valued at approximately 800,000 euros. He has already scored 5 goals and provided one assist in 10 Qatari league appearances this season. Sameh concluded by suggesting that a potential move to either of Egypt’s giants, Al Ahly or Zamalek, would be a significant acquisition for either club.
DZWatch will continue to follow Berkane’s progress as he prepares for what could be a career-defining tournament.
