Algeria Opens Doors to Second British International School

Dzwatch.net: Algeria has marked a significant stride in educational collaboration with the United Kingdom by inaugurating the second British International School, “British Compis Algeria.” This milestone event was commemorated by the signing of a memorandum by Lunas Magramane, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and the UK Ambassador to Britain, Sharon Wardle.

The official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs outlined that both dignitaries presided over the exchange ceremony, which aimed to adopt an amendment to the bilateral memorandum of understanding, signed in Algeria on March 9, 2020.

The Secretary-General emphasized that the signing of this annex to the Algerian-British agreement concerning the opening of a new British school is an additional step in the strategic direction set by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to prioritize the English language in Algeria’s educational system. This initiative is also expected to enhance the friendly relations and cooperation between Algeria and the United Kingdom.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives of the British Embassy in Algeria, including Latfi Ghazi, the director of “British Compis Algeria,” alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and the Ministry of National Education.

With the establishment of “British Compis Algeria,” Algeria not only enriches its educational landscape but also paves the way for strengthening linguistic proficiency and cultural exchange. This development aligns with President Tebboune’s vision for enhancing English language education in the country and bolsters the existing friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
