DZWatch Exclusive: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior announced today the execution of three citizens belonging to the Shia minority, convicted of terrorism-related offenses. The executions were carried out in the Eastern Province.
The individuals executed were identified as Hussein bin Haidar al-Qallaf, Mohammed bin Ahmed al-Hamad, and Hassan bin Saleh Salim. The Ministry stated that their convictions stemmed from ‘terrorist acts involving the killing of a security officer, the injury of another, attacks on security headquarters and vehicles, and the manufacturing of explosives, as well as the possession of weapons and ammunition with the aim of disrupting societal security and stability.’
In a statement released following the executions, the Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security, upholding justice, and implementing Islamic Sharia law against anyone who threatens the lives of peaceful citizens or violates their rights. The statement further warned potential offenders that they would face severe legal consequences for similar actions.
These executions occur within the context of Saudi Arabia’s strict policy regarding terrorism and security-related crimes. In 2025 alone, authorities have carried out over 350 executions, primarily for murder and drug trafficking offenses, alongside a number of cases involving security and terrorism charges.
