Petkovic: We Are Ready to Make Algeria Proud

DZWatch Exclusive – National team coach Vladimir Petkovic has emphasized the importance of the psychological aspect in preparing his players for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations 2025.

Speaking at a press conference held Tuesday ahead of Algeria’s match against Sudan, Petkovic stated, “I told the players to forget yesterday. What’s past is not important; today is what matters. We must work hard for tomorrow.”

He continued, “We have worked diligently over the past few days to deliver a serious performance tomorrow, one that allows us to continue our journey with confidence and positivity.”

Petkovic added, “My squad has been working well. We are awaiting today’s session to finalize the list of players who will be called up for the match. However, I believe we are ready, and we are obligated to please our people.”

Les Verts will kick off their AFCON 2025 campaign tomorrow, Wednesday, against Sudan, followed by a match against Burkina Faso next Sunday, and Equatorial Guinea three days later, concluding the group stage.

The coach’s focus on mental fortitude highlights the team’s commitment to performing at their best and meeting the expectations of the Algerian public. With the tournament just around the corner, all eyes are on the national team as they aim to bring glory to Algeria.
