Snow and Thunderstorms Expected Across Several Algerian Regions

DZWatch Exclusive: December 23, 2025 – Several regions of Algeria are bracing for a period of inclement weather, with forecasts predicting both snowfall and thunderstorms across a wide swathe of the country.

According to a special weather bulletin issued today by the National Meteorological Office, snowfall is expected to continue in the following provinces: Batna, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, El Bayadh, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbes, and Tlemcen. The advisory indicates that these conditions are likely to persist until 6:00 PM tomorrow, Wednesday.

In a separate weather alert, the same meteorological services have warned of continued rainfall, with accumulations expected to range between 20 and 40 millimeters, potentially reaching up to 50 millimeters in localized areas. This heavy rainfall is anticipated in Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mascara, western Tiaret, Saida, and Sidi Bel Abbes, also until 6:00 AM tomorrow.

Furthermore, residents in several other provinces should prepare for thunderstorms. The advisory specifically mentions Algiers, Tipaza, Tissemsilt, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Relizane, M’Sila, Chlef, Mostaganem, Djelfa, El Bayadh, Ain Defla, Naama, Boumerdes, and Blida. These conditions are also expected to last until 6:00 AM tomorrow, Wednesday.
