Algeria-Qatar Collaboration Boosts Iron and Steel Partnership

The Algerian Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, welcomed the Ambassador of Qatar, Abdulaziz bin Ali Ahmed Al-Naama, accompanied by Youssef bin Ahmed Al-Mehandi, General Manager of the Algerian-Qatari Steel Company, on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Industry, the meeting praised the bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the industrial field. Qatar has begun investing in several projects, with the Bellara plant in Jijel province being a fruitful result of an Arab-Arab economic partnership in the field of iron manufacturing. As per the source, the General Manager of the Algerian-Qatari Steel Company confirmed that the plant is operating well, with over 2600 workers currently producing new types of iron products to advance the iron and steel industry.

On his part, the Minister of Industry affirmed that the project would broaden the scope of exports beyond hydrocarbons, and his ministry would strive to provide all the facilities to further expand the project.
