Algeria’s Dzair Media City: A New Jewel in Media Infrastructure
Algerian Communication Minister, Mohamed Laagab, hailed the under-construction Dzair Media City as a “marvel” on Wednesday. Speaking to the National People’s Congress deputies, Laagab emphasized that the new media city will not only serve as a media hub but also as a commercial hotspot equipped with restaurants, a hotel, and additional retail facilities.
As for the delivery timeline, Minister Laagab expressed confidence, referencing the Housing Minister Mohamed Tarek Belaribi’s commitment to meeting project deadlines, with an ultimate delivery time capped at 30 months.
Coinciding with the 61st anniversary of Independence and Youth Day, President Tebboune laid the foundation stone of the new Dzair Media City located in Ouled Fayet west of the capital. This sprawling media city covers an area of 74 hectares and will include a media zone with broadcasting studios, an artist village, educational and research facilities, and a multi-service area.
The media section will host headquarters for national media institutions, including the Algerian Public Television, the Algerian News Agency, the Broadcasting and Television Institution, the National Communication, Publishing, and Advertising Establishment, Algerian Radio, and the international channel “Algeria 24”.
The President has also ordered an acceleration in the construction of this grand media edifice, which is expected to follow the latest global standards in the field, with a completion timeline of approximately 27 months.
