The General Directorate of Civil Defense reported today that its units responded to a total of 2,772 incidents across the country in the last 24 hours. These interventions spanned a range of emergencies, including traffic accidents and gas-related incidents, averaging one intervention every 31 seconds.
According to the Directorate’s statement, carbon monoxide poisoning incidents accounted for 12 interventions. These incidents resulted in 43 cases of poisoning and, tragically, one fatality. The Civil Defense urges citizens to exercise extreme caution when using heating appliances and ensure proper ventilation in their homes.
Traffic accidents required 154 interventions by Civil Defense teams. These accidents resulted in 181 injuries and 9 fatalities. Authorities are reminding drivers to adhere to traffic laws and exercise caution on the roads, especially during periods of increased traffic volume.
The Civil Defense continues to emphasize the importance of public awareness regarding safety measures to prevent accidents and minimize injuries. Citizens are encouraged to contact the Civil Defense hotline in case of any emergency. Prompt reporting can significantly improve response times and potentially save lives.
