Algiers, Algeria – The Minister of National Education, Mohamed Sghir Saadaoui, has revealed serious breaches within private educational institutions, including the falsification of student results. The Minister made the announcement following increased monitoring and oversight of private schools across the country, citing a need for stricter control and enhanced supervision by the sector’s inspection services.
During a session addressing oral questions from members of the Council of the Nation, Minister Saadaoui explained that some private school owners are treating education as a purely commercial activity. This approach, he stated, has negatively impacted the pedagogical management within these institutions, leading to several deficiencies identified during field inspections.
“The Ministry of National Education will not compromise on protecting the educational system and maintaining the integrity of national certifications,” Saadaoui asserted. He emphasized that inspection services will continue to rigorously perform their duties to ensure compliance with educational curricula and the laws governing the operation of private educational institutions.
The Minister added that the education sector will pursue ongoing reforms aimed at correcting these imbalances. The goal is to ensure that private schools remain spaces for education and learning, rather than solely profit-driven enterprises. This commitment serves the best interests of students, preserves the quality of education, and aligns with national directives in the field.
