Algerian football legend Lakhdar Beloumi has lauded Riyad Mahrez’s performance, while coach Vladimir Petkovic has cautioned his players ahead of their crucial match tomorrow, DZWatch has learned.
Beloumi, widely regarded as one of Algeria’s greatest players, expressed his satisfaction with the national team’s recent victory. He emphasized the importance of the win in providing a strong start to the tournament and expressed hope for a deep run.

I still see him capable of giving much more, and he proved that against Sudan in the first test in the tournament, after scoring a beautiful brace, which facilitated the task for the Algerian team, who managed the match with great intelligence,” Beloumi added.
Beloumi also commented on Mahrez surpassing his record as the highest Algerian scorer in the competition. He expressed his happiness for Mahrez, stating that he is now a supporter rather than a competitor. He encouraged Mahrez to continue his brilliance, ignore criticism, and break more records with Algeria.
