Oran, Algeria – A major drug bust in Oran has resulted in the seizure of 50 kilograms of cannabis, a substantial sum of money, and a vehicle used in the illicit operation, according to sources within the National Gendarmerie.
The operation stemmed from a detailed investigation initiated after credible intelligence indicated drug trafficking activity in a neighborhood within the El Senia municipality. Following intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering, Gendarmerie forces implemented a well-coordinated plan that led to the apprehension of three individuals, aged between 25 and 37, all residents of Oran and wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.
During the raid, authorities confiscated approximately 50 kilograms of processed cannabis (kif), along with 25 million centimes in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales. A passenger vehicle utilized in the criminal enterprise and several mobile phones were also seized as evidence.
The suspects now face serious charges, including possession of cannabis for the purpose of sale, offering cannabis for sale, acquisition and purchase with intent to sell, transportation and transit by an organized criminal group, and forming a criminal association to prepare for a felony. Following the completion of legal procedures, the accused were presented before the Public Prosecutor at the El Senia Court.
