Oran, Algeria – In a significant operation targeting drug trafficking networks, the National Gendarmerie in Oran has seized 50 kilograms of processed cannabis and apprehended three individuals suspected of involvement. The operation took place in the commune of Es Senia.
The successful operation stemmed from credible intelligence regarding the suspicious activities of a person believed to be involved in drug trafficking within Es Senia. Acting on this information, the National Gendarmerie launched an intensive field investigation, bolstered by intelligence gathering. This led to the development and execution of a well-coordinated plan that resulted in the arrest of three individuals aged between 25 and 37, all residents of Oran and subject to arrest warrants.
In addition to the substantial quantity of cannabis, authorities confiscated 25 million centimes (approximately equivalent to $1,800 USD), suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. A vehicle used for transporting and distributing the narcotics was also seized, along with several mobile phones used for communication and coordination.
Following the completion of legal procedures, the suspects were presented before the Public Prosecutor at the Es Senia Court. They face serious charges including possession of cannabis for sale, offering for sale, acquisition, purchase, transportation, and transit within the framework of an organized criminal group, as well as forming a criminal association for the purpose of preparing a crime.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the National Gendarmerie to combat organized crime and protect the community from the scourge of drug trafficking. Authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to dismantle these networks and bring those responsible to justice.
