Algiers – The Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) has issued a strong condemnation of any unilateral actions that infringe upon the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia. Ibrahim Boughali, President of the APU, released a statement today, outlining the Union’s firm stance on the matter.
The APU voiced its resolute opposition to any attempts to undermine Somalia’s political and security stability, as well as its territorial integrity. Boughali emphasized that any violation of Somali sovereignty contravenes the core principles of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits interference in the internal affairs of states and the use of force against their territorial and political integrity.
The statement specifically denounced the purported recognition by the Zionist entity of Somali territory as a sovereign state, characterizing it as a blatant violation of Somali sovereignty. The APU views this move as an overt interference in Somalia’s internal affairs and a direct provocation aimed at destabilizing the Arab and African regions.
Boughali asserted that such actions are in direct conflict with international law and the principle of non-recognition of any territorial changes resulting from illegal measures. He reiterated that the security and stability of Somalia, and respect for its national sovereignty, are integral to Arab national security.
The APU President expressed the Union’s full solidarity with the Federal Republic of Somalia in its efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and stability through legal means. The APU urged all relevant parties to respect Somalia’s complete sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to refrain from compromising its independence.
The Union reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the Somali people in preserving their territory and strengthening their political and security stability. It called for coordinated Arab action to confront any external threats that undermine Somalia’s sovereignty and stability.
