Saadaoui Honors Students Advancing to International Arabic Language Competition

Algiers, December 29, 2025 – Minister of National Education, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, presided over a ceremony in Algiers today to honor outstanding students who have qualified for the international “Arabic Language Month” competition. The competition is organized by the League of Arab States in collaboration with the International Council for the Arabic Language, under the theme of “Investing in the Minds of Emerging Generations and Future Leaders.”

In his address, Minister Saadaoui emphasized that the achievements of these students “are not merely results to be recorded or rankings to be announced, but rather a translation of their talents, their passion for the Arabic language, and their commitment to advancing its arts and tools.” He lauded the creativity of the students, who presented exceptional works in five creative fields: short story, essay, poetry, calligraphy, and drawing, making them “true ambassadors of eloquence and creativity.”

Saadaoui noted that the initial qualifying rounds saw participation from 2,944 works across 2,516 educational institutions. Of these, 1,108 were selected to participate at the provincial level, from which 605 works were chosen, after evaluation, to compete at the national level.

He further explained that the National Selection Committee convened between December 1st and 4th to evaluate, rank, and select the winning works at the national level, which will represent Algeria in the international competition. Saadaoui believes that participation in competitions of this nature will “strengthen the elements of national identity in young people and discover talented and creative students in various literary and artistic fields.” This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to fostering a deep appreciation for the Arabic language and culture among Algerian youth, ensuring the continued vitality of this essential aspect of the nation’s heritage. DZWatch will continue to provide updates on the students’ progress in the international competition.
