Ait Nouri: Algeria Aiming for Perfection Despite Qualification

Algeria’s international defender, Rayan Ait Nouri, has affirmed the national team’s ambition to conclude the Africa Cup of Nations group stage in the best possible manner. This involves securing a victory and claiming all three points against Equatorial Guinea in their match tomorrow, Wednesday, despite having already secured early qualification for the next round.

During a press conference held today, Tuesday, alongside national coach Vladimir Petkovic, Ait Nouri explained that early qualification provides a psychological boost but does not diminish the importance of the upcoming encounter. He emphasized the need to strive for a perfect record in the first round.

The Manchester City player stressed that the team’s interest remains his priority. He affirmed his commitment to always giving his best to serve the national colors and bring joy to the Algerian fans.

Ait Nouri praised goalkeeper Luca Zidane, highlighting his rapid integration into the squad and his positive influence on the field. He noted that Zidane communicates extensively with his teammates and provides significant assistance to the team.

The left-back denied any intention of sending specific messages to their opponents, clarifying that their focus is solely on each match individually and adhering to the technical staff’s instructions to achieve victory.

Ait Nouri asserted that the match against Equatorial Guinea carries no element of revenge for what happened in the Cameroon tournament, deeming it a regular match against a respectable team, with the sole objective of finishing the first round with a win.

The ‘Green’ player acknowledged a recent lack of competitive game time due to an injury sustained at the beginning of the season, indicating that he is gradually regaining his fitness and confidence step by step.

Ait Nouri highlighted the significant role played by captain Riyad Mahrez within the team, considering him a pivotal player with his experience and clear influence on the field, particularly after his strong start to the tournament.

The Algerian international concluded his statements by praising the level of competition in the Africa Cup of Nations, noting that the tournament features strong teams and outstanding players, creating favorable conditions for high-quality football.
