Oran, Algeria – Algerian Customs authorities have dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking networks, seizing a massive shipment of ecstasy pills at the Port of Oran. The operation, conducted by customs inspectors in close collaboration with the People’s National Army, thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of the narcotics into the country.
According to an official statement, the seizure occurred during the processing of a maritime voyage arriving from Almeria, Spain. A thorough inspection revealed 453,500 ecstasy pills concealed within two vehicles that were subsequently impounded.
The authorities also apprehended several suspects allegedly involved in the smuggling operation. The suspects have been handed over to the relevant judicial authorities for further investigation and prosecution, according to established legal procedures. The investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the criminal network and any potential accomplices.
This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Algerian Customs, in coordination with various security forces, to safeguard the national economy and protect public health and safety from the dangers of drugs and psychotropic substances. The seizure highlights Algeria’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting its citizens from the harmful effects of illegal narcotics. The authorities will continue to be vigilant in their efforts to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating within the country.
