Speaking to the media after signing a framework agreement with the Supreme Council for Youth, Badani emphasized the strategic importance of the sector in securing national food safety and diversifying the national economy’s resources. He expressed satisfaction with the sector’s achievements, highlighted by “positive indicators,” such as the increase in national production and the enhancement of Algeria’s fishing fleet capacity, now boasting over 100 large vessels, including 33 tuna fishing ships for high-sea fishing. Additionally,

there has been a rise in marine and inland aquaculture projects, totaling 127, predominantly led by young entrepreneurs. The minister confirmed the sector’s ambition to reach an aquaculture production of 100,000 tons by 2030, with 40,000 tons from marine waters and 60,000 tons from freshwater, underscoring that all realistic and economic mechanisms are being leveraged to realize this goal.
