Israel Strikes Southern Lebanon, Demands Village Evacuations

The Israeli military conducted strikes in southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday, according to reports. The strikes followed warnings issued by Israel demanding the evacuation of four villages, allegedly in preparation for targeting Hezbollah and Hamas positions.

Lebanese media reports indicate that the villages of Ain El Tine, Al-Manara, Anan, and Kfar Hatta were impacted by the Israeli strikes. Subsequent reports detailed further airstrikes on the outskirts of the towns of Saksakieh and Sarfand, reportedly without prior warning.

Reports indicate that a house was completely destroyed in Al-Manara, with significant damage to surrounding homes, vehicles, and businesses. The targeted house was identified as belonging to a Hezbollah militant killed last year by Israeli forces.

The Israeli military stated that it would target Hezbollah sites in Kfar Hatta and Ain El Tine, and Hamas locations in Anan and Al-Manara. Residents of the four villages were ordered to evacuate immediately and maintain a distance of at least 300 meters from the specified locations.

Tensions remain high despite a ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024. Israel continues to carry out attacks, claiming they target Hezbollah infrastructure. They allege the group is rearming after a conflict that included two months of open warfare.

Amid U.S. pressure and concerns about escalating Israeli strikes, Lebanese authorities approved a plan to disarm Hezbollah. The Lebanese army was scheduled to complete the disarmament process south of the Litani River, approximately 30 kilometers from the Israeli border, by the end of 2025, before continuing its mission in other areas of the country.

The strikes come as a committee is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing situation.
