The Danish Ambassador to Algeria, Kathrine From Hoyer, has lauded the relationship between Copenhagen and Algiers as ‘excellent,’ emphasizing the commitment to further develop and expand cooperation across various sectors. These include energy transition, trade exchange, and cultural exchange. The Ambassador highlighted the existing partnership within the pharmaceutical industry, noting that approximately 75 percent of Denmark’s exports to Algeria consist of pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and healthcare products.
In a detailed interview, the Ambassador emphasized Denmark’s extensive experience in modern pharmaceutical industries, suggesting potential knowledge sharing opportunities with Algeria. She highlighted the solid diplomatic ties, robust trade, and vibrant cultural exchange already in place. As Ambassador, she aims to deepen these relationships and foster future-oriented collaborations in key areas such as energy, energy transition, and trade.
Regarding renewable energy, the Ambassador referenced the ‘Danish Energy Transition Initiative,’ a bilateral cooperation project between the Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Danish Energy Agency. This initiative has facilitated exchanges between experts, with Algerian delegations visiting Denmark to learn about wind energy and Danish representatives visiting Algeria. The Technical University of Denmark has also collaborated with the Algerian Ministry of Energy and Mines, particularly in developing a ‘Wind Atlas’ to map Algeria’s potential for wind energy development.
The strong ties between Denmark and Algeria signal a promising future for collaboration in various sectors.
