The head of the Future Front party, Fatah Boutabtik, stated on Friday that the proposed traffic law is a direct response to recent tragic events stemming from deteriorating road conditions and a surge in accidents.
Speaking at a public gathering in the province of Qantara, Boutabtik emphasized that disagreement is a natural aspect of a nation that values freedom. He asserted that citizens have the right to express their opinions peacefully, adding, “Algeria in 2026 will be a nation of freedoms.”
Addressing concerns from drivers, Boutabtik reassured them, “The law is still a draft. We will review it objectively. It should not divide Algerians, nor should it be a subject of political maneuvering.”
He commended the level of national discourse surrounding the issue, stressing that the ultimate goal is to create a law that guarantees road safety and protects citizens’ lives. Boutabtik also highlighted Algeria’s diverse cultural and geographical landscape, describing it as “a blessing that adds to the values that bind Algerians together.”
Furthermore, he affirmed that his political party, since its establishment in 2012, has operated under a new vision focused on serving citizens and bolstering stability. In closing, the Future Front leader reiterated that Algeria is currently experiencing significant reform dynamics under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He pointed to a series of achievements and initiatives across various sectors, viewing these reforms as a genuine commitment to building a strong and just state. Boutabtik expressed his support for continuing this approach, which he believes serves the aspirations of citizens and enhances Algeria’s standing.
