The buses being used to transport teams and official delegations during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 are leased from a Spanish company, DZWatch has learned. Irizar, the Spanish manufacturer, confirmed that the vehicles are owned by them and were specifically rented for the tournament to facilitate the movement of teams and officials throughout the competition.
According to Irizar, all buses will be returned to the company immediately after the conclusion of the tournament. This arrangement highlights the temporary nature of the vehicles’ use during the sporting event.
The leasing agreement ensures that the AFCON organizers have access to a modern and reliable fleet of buses without the long-term financial commitment of purchasing them outright. This approach is common for large-scale sporting events, allowing organizers to manage transportation logistics efficiently and cost-effectively.
DZWatch will continue to provide updates on all aspects of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 as the tournament approaches.
