At least 27 people have been killed and 13 others wounded in an attack attributed to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the city of Singa, Sennar State, eastern Sudan. The incident occurred amidst escalating conflict and displacement in other regions, particularly North Darfur. The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have claimed to have inflicted heavy casualties on the RSF in various engagements.
According to a military source, the RSF targeted Singa with a drone strike. The source stated the attack focused on security personnel and civilians accompanying military leaders from several states. Salah Adam Abdullah, spokesperson for the Sennar State government, confirmed the attack, stating that air defenses engaged the incoming drone. He acknowledged casualties among civilians but maintained that life was returning to normal in the city.
Gamar al-Din Fadl al-Mawla, Governor of the White Nile State, narrowly escaped the attack in Singa, where he was attending an official meeting. However, two of his aides were reportedly killed, according to a statement from the Sudanese Ministry of Information.
Singa is strategically located approximately 300 kilometers southeast of Khartoum, on a key route connecting army-controlled areas in eastern and central Sudan.
In a statement posted on social media, Al-Basha Tabiq, an advisor to the RSF commander, characterized the attack on the 17th Division headquarters in Singa as a direct message to Sudanese Sovereign Council President Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and military leaders. He warned of further, more severe attacks to come.
The attack follows the Sudanese government’s announcement of its return to the capital, Khartoum, after relocating to Port Sudan nearly three years ago. Sennar State has experienced relative calm since the army regained control of key cities in late 2024, allowing it to reassert control over Khartoum.
Meanwhile, Mutawakil Abuja, a spokesperson for the joint forces allied with the Sudanese army, accused the RSF of committing criminal acts in the towns of [Town Names].
