Algeria Seeks Mining Partnerships at Riyadh Conference

Algeria is actively participating in the International Mining Conference 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening international partnerships in the mining sector. The conference, themed ‘Minerals: Meeting the Challenges for a New Development Era,’ is taking place from January 13th to 15th.

Representing Algeria is the Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, in charge of Mines, alongside the Director of the Steering Committee of the Algerian Geological Survey Agency (ASGA) and other ministry officials. This high-level delegation underscores Algeria’s dedication to exploring collaboration and investment opportunities within the mineral industries.

The conference, held under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, serves as a prominent platform for mining ministers, decision-makers, and industry experts from across the globe. Discussions center on advancing the minerals industry and its crucial role in global economic transformation and sustainable development.

Ministerial Discussions and Strategic Focus

During the conference, the Secretary of State participated in a ministerial roundtable chaired by the Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef. The discussions focused on enhancing international cooperation in mineral exploration, developing value chains, and promoting responsible and sustainable investments.

The Algerian delegation also attended the ministerial meeting of member states of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization. This meeting addressed mechanisms for unifying Arab efforts, strengthening regional integration in the industrial and mining sectors, and supporting joint initiatives for sustainable economic development.

Key pillars of the 2026 conference include: developing innovative financing models for mineral infrastructure, building capacity through networks of excellence in geology, innovation, and sustainability, and enhancing transparency across supply and manufacturing chains.

The conference boasts participation from over 100 countries, approximately 50 international organizations, financial institutions, and major mining companies, highlighting its global significance and impact on the future of the mining industry.
