Algiers, January 17, 2026 – The Algerian government has announced the launch of a high-level training program aimed at empowering the nation’s youth. Minister for Youth, Mustapha Haidaoui, revealed the initiative today, stating that it will benefit 30,000 young Algerians.
The announcement was made during the opening of the 39th annual session of the National Council of Algerian Muslim Scouts in Sidi Fredj, Algiers. The event, co-presided by Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Yassine Oulid, is dedicated to the memory of the late Mujahid General Hamou Abdeljebbar.
Minister Haidaoui emphasized that the program is designed to “enhance the framework for guiding and structuring Algerian youth, providing them with opportunities to invest in their skills and actively participate in public life.” He added that it represents a significant step towards fostering a more engaged and skilled young generation.
The training initiative, described as “the first of its kind in Algeria,” will target individuals aged 18 to 28. It aims to develop their capabilities, refine their skills, and strengthen their convictions through a high-caliber training program led by prominent national and international experts. Selected participants will champion initiatives within youth organizations, with each initiative involving at least 30 young people.
“This is a field-based initiative focusing on key areas such as promoting participation, volunteerism, environmental protection, and addressing climate change,” Haidaoui explained. He underscored the program’s potential to create a dynamic societal environment by nurturing the talents and engagement of young Algerians.
