DZWatch has learned that significant weather changes are expected across Algeria. The national weather service forecasts heavy rainfall and snowfall in numerous regions, accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperatures.
The northern provinces are predicted to experience rainfall, particularly in the eastern and central areas. The western regions will likely see partly cloudy skies. Snowfall is anticipated on elevations exceeding 1000 meters.
A level-two (orange) alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in the provinces of Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Bouira, Bordj Bou Arreridj, M’Sila, Djelfa, Tiaret, and Laghouat. A level-one (yellow) alert for rainfall is in effect for Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Blida, Ain Defla, Medea, Tissemsilt, Jijel, Setif, Annaba, El Tarf, Biskra, Ouled Djellal, and Ghardaia.
Regarding snowfall, a level-two (orange) alert warns of heavy snowfall in Tissemsilt, Tiaret, Djelfa, and Laghouat. A level-one (yellow) alert for snowfall covers Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Blida, Medea, Ain Defla, Bordj Bou Arreridj, and M’Sila.
Temperatures in the north are expected to range from 12 to 18 degrees Celsius along the coast and between 3 and 16 degrees Celsius in the inland provinces. Winds could reach speeds of up to 30 km/h.
In the south, the weather will generally be sunny to partly cloudy, with rain in the southwest and the northern and central Sahara. Temperatures will range from 13 to 32 degrees Celsius, with wind speeds potentially reaching 60 km/h. Stay tuned to DZWatch for updates as this weather system develops.
