Algiers – Representatives of transport sector unions have lauded the direct attention given by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the concerns of professionals in the transport sector and other vital areas. The commendation followed a meeting Saturday with the Prime Minister, Sifi Gherib.
Union representatives emphasized the strategic importance of the transport sector to the national system and its pivotal role in bolstering economic security. They also praised the positive response of the nation’s highest authorities to the concerns of professionals, affirming their commitment to efforts aimed at improving the level of public service.
The General Union of Algerian Traders and Craftsmen (UGCAA), in a statement, considered the meeting to reflect the state’s sincere political will to consolidate responsible dialogue and strengthen trust between republican institutions and representatives of social partners. The UGCAA highlighted the participation of transport sector unions affiliated with the union, led by its Secretary-General, Issam Badrissi.
The meeting was described as a significant political and institutional milestone. The Prime Minister, it was noted, announced the launch of genuine and joint workshops, framed by a clear timeline, aimed at addressing professional concerns in a way that strengthens the stability of the national market and promotes economic and social balance.
Furthermore, the UGCAA valued the government’s proactive approach in preparing for the holy month of Ramadan by ensuring the availability of widely consumed materials, controlling supply mechanisms, and working to protect the purchasing power of citizens. The union affirmed the commitment of traders, craftsmen, and transport professionals to the success of these national efforts, demonstrating responsibility and dedication.
The UGCAA also renewed its commitment to continuing open workshops aimed at consolidating the ethics of commercial practices, promoting a culture of integrity and transparency, and spreading professional awareness to ensure a fair balance between market requirements and consumer rights, thereby contributing to building a sound and stable economic climate. The union also noted the Prime Minister’s assurance that the relevant sectors are poised for qualitative reforms that will improve the climate for economic activity, enhance the performance of professionals, and improve the quality of public service. He also acknowledged the awareness of traders, craftsmen, and transport sector actors and their national role in maintaining the continuity of supply and ensuring social peace.
The Prime Minister affirmed that these sectors receive special attention and direct focus from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
