DZWatch Exclusive: Shocking revelations have surfaced, suggesting a clandestine level of cooperation between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and remnants of the Bashar al-Assad regime. Leaked audio recordings, purportedly obtained through a cyber intrusion targeting figures linked to the former Syrian government, paint a concerning picture of potential collusion.
The leaked material allegedly includes conversations between the hacker and Ayman Jaber, a relative of the Assad family and a prominent supporter of militias that fought alongside the now-defunct regime. In one exchange, the hacker offers to facilitate the transfer of a military figure, identified as ‘Suheil,’ to areas controlled by Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria, specifically Qamishli. Jaber purportedly responds affirmatively, suggesting that Suheil’s presence in the region would allow him to exert influence and potentially reorganize his forces.
Furthermore, the recordings allude to the possibility of direct coordination between Jaber and Mazloum Abdi, the commander of the SDF. Jaber reportedly proposes arranging a meeting with Abdi, but the hacker suggests an alternative location in Iraq, implying potential logistical challenges. The conversation suggests a degree of familiarity and established channels of communication between the parties involved.
Another segment of the leaked audio features Mohammed Jaber, Ayman’s brother and a commander of the ‘Hawks of the Desert’ militia, discussing the nature of the relationship with the SDF. He describes the SDF members he interacts with as ‘ordinary people’ and indicates that the SDF has requested a significant number of fighters, a request he has apparently been hesitant to fully fulfill.
These alleged leaks raise serious questions about the true nature of the relationship between the SDF and elements of the former Assad regime, potentially complicating the already complex dynamics of the Syrian conflict. DZWatch will continue to investigate these claims and provide updates as they become available.
