Interior Ministry Urges Installation of Carbon Monoxide Detectors

The Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport has issued a strong warning about the increasing number of serious incidents involving carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. The ministry emphasizes that this gas is a silent killer, being both odorless and invisible, and poses a significant threat to life if proper precautions are not taken.

The Ministry is urging citizens to install carbon monoxide detectors in their homes, especially near heating appliances and water heaters. Regular maintenance of gas-powered heaters, stoves, and fireplaces is crucial to ensure safe operation. Neglecting this maintenance can lead to dangerous leaks and potentially fatal consequences.

Furthermore, the Ministry stressed the importance of maintaining proper ventilation in bathrooms and other rooms. Never block ventilation outlets, and ensure rooms are adequately ventilated. It is also advised to turn off water heaters immediately after use to minimize potential risks.

Citizens are urged to seek fresh air and immediately contact civil defense services if they experience any sudden symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, or difficulty breathing. These symptoms could indicate carbon monoxide poisoning, and prompt action is essential.

The Ministry concluded by emphasizing that installing a simple carbon monoxide detector can save lives. Everyone is encouraged to take the necessary steps to protect themselves and their families from this silent threat. Taking preventative measures is key to avoiding tragedy.
