Algiers – A high-level Italian delegation is currently in Algeria to foster collaboration in university entrepreneurship and innovation. The visit underscores the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s commitment to international engagement and the development of a robust innovation ecosystem within Algerian universities.
The delegation includes representatives from the University of Genoa and FILSE, an Italian business incubator. Their visit marks the beginning of a strategic cooperation program aimed at exchanging expertise and building sustainable institutional partnerships in innovation and university entrepreneurship.
The cooperation program, which commenced this week and extends until January 29th, will facilitate knowledge sharing and strengthen the position of Algerian universities within international networks that support a knowledge-based economy.
As part of the visit, official meetings are being held between the Italian partners and directors of Algerian universities, culminating in the signing of Memorandums of Understanding on January 22nd. These agreements aim to formalize cooperation in areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, and connecting universities with the economic environment. The goal is to translate research ideas into economically viable projects.
An intensive training program is also being conducted for directors of university business incubators, focusing on positioning strategies and business models within the European innovation landscape. The University of Tlemcen hosted the program on January 23rd and 24th, followed by the University of Medea on January 25th and 26th, with a focus on the European Innovation Network community. The program will conclude with a specialized workshop at the University of Ouargla on January 27th, dedicated to European Union projects.
This initiative is part of the National Coordination Committee’s efforts to strengthen the capabilities of stakeholders in the university innovation system and equip them with modern management and governance tools. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academia and the economy, fostering a dynamic environment for innovation and entrepreneurship in Algeria.
