Algiers – The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, announced an ambitious goal to achieve full fiber optic connectivity across Algeria by early 2027. The announcement came during a meeting held on Tuesday with representatives from over 4800 small businesses and self-employed contractors working with Algerie Telecom across all 58 provinces.
The meeting focused on advancing the strategic “All Fiber” initiative. Minister Zerrouki issued directives to Algerie Telecom to urgently launch a digital platform enabling young entrepreneurs to track their projects and issue invoices in real-time. This initiative aims to remove administrative and financial hurdles, ensuring transparent transactions and faster payments to active businesses, free from bureaucratic obstacles.
Zerrouki emphasized the need to accelerate efforts to achieve comprehensive fiber optic coverage throughout Algeria by the beginning of 2027. He highlighted that this accelerated pace will also generate thousands of new job opportunities. The Minister reassured small business owners that their work will not cease upon completion of the initial connection phase. Instead, they will be re-oriented towards specialized maintenance and technical sustainability roles to ensure the network’s longevity and service quality.
Concluding the meeting, Minister Zerrouki stressed the importance of creating incentive mechanisms for self-employed contractors and small businesses, contingent upon strict adherence to quality and precision standards. He affirmed that professional execution is the sole guarantee of providing a service that meets the expectations of Algerie Telecom customers and keeps pace with the technological advancements occurring in the country.
