Algeria Dominates Arab Badminton Championship in Cairo

Cairo, Egypt – The Algerian national badminton team has clinched the title at the 2026 Arab Badminton Championship held in Cairo, showcasing a dominant performance throughout the competition.

Algeria finished at the top of the overall medal table, securing a total of nine medals. The impressive haul included three gold, three silver, and three bronze medals, further solidifying Algeria’s position as a powerhouse in Arab badminton, according to the Algerian Olympic and Sports Committee.

The gold medals were earned through exceptional performances in the doubles categories. Thina Mammeri and Cyrine Ibrahim excelled in the women’s doubles, while Koceila Mammeri and Sabri Medel secured the gold in the men’s doubles. Adding to the gold rush, Koceila Mammeri and Thina Mammeri also triumphed in the mixed doubles event.

Yasmina Chibah and Linda Mazri claimed silver in the women’s doubles, while Adel Hamek and Abderrahmane Belarbi secured silver in the men’s doubles. Abderrahmane Belarbi and Cyrine Ibrahim also earned a silver medal in the mixed doubles category.

The bronze medals were awarded to Adel Hamek and Abderrahmane Belarbi in the men’s singles, and Abdelaziz Ouchfoune and Hala Bouksani in the mixed doubles.

A remarkable feature of the championship was the Algerian team’s dominance, particularly in the doubles finals, which were contested entirely by Algerian players. This underscored the depth of talent within the national squad and the significant progress of Algerian badminton on the Arab stage.
