Saida Family Suffers Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Saida, Algeria – A family of five has been hospitalized in Saida after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning. The incident occurred earlier today in the Bourached village, part of the Sidi Ahmed municipality within the Ain El Hadjar district.

According to a statement released by the Civil Protection services, they responded to a call at 13:05 local time regarding a family suffering from asphyxiation due to carbon monoxide. The source of the gas was traced back to a faulty heating system in their residence, located in the “20 Houses” neighborhood.

The victims, all members of the same family, experienced severe respiratory distress and breathing difficulties. Emergency responders provided immediate medical assistance at the scene before transporting them to the local hospital for further treatment and observation.

“Our teams acted swiftly to provide the necessary medical care and ensure the safety of the affected individuals,” a Civil Protection spokesperson stated. “We urge all residents to ensure their heating systems are properly maintained and that adequate ventilation is available, especially during the colder months, to prevent similar incidents.”

Carbon monoxide poisoning remains a significant public health concern, particularly during winter, when heating appliances are used more frequently. The Civil Protection services continue to emphasize the importance of regular maintenance and safety precautions to minimize the risk of such incidents. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of improperly maintained heating systems and the potentially fatal consequences of carbon monoxide exposure.

Local authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the leak and to ensure that all safety regulations were followed. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
