Algiers – Several Algerian provinces are experiencing a wave of severe weather, characterized by heavy snowfall and strong winds. The National Meteorological Office has issued warnings that remain in effect until Sunday.
A special weather bulletin indicates that regions above 1000 meters in altitude will see significant snowfall, potentially reaching up to 15 centimeters. The provinces of Tlemcen and Sidi Bel Abbes are particularly affected, with conditions expected to persist until midday Sunday.
A separate advisory forecasts snowfall of up to 10 centimeters in mountainous areas exceeding 1000 meters, commencing at 6:00 PM Saturday and lasting until midday Sunday. The provinces impacted include Blida, Medea, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, and Bejaia.
Furthermore, the provinces of Naama, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Saida, El Bayadh, Laghouat, and Djelfa are also bracing for heavy snowfall, with accumulations potentially reaching 10 centimeters above 1000 meters. This is expected to begin at 9:00 AM Saturday and continue until midday Sunday.
The meteorological office has also warned of strong winds, exceeding 90 km/h, in the provinces of Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Sidi Bel Abbes, and Mostaganem. These high winds are expected to last until 3:00 PM Saturday.
